Objective

Identify the country of origin where military equipment was designed and manufactured.

Many countries operate equipment manufactured elsewhere. Your goal is to pinpoint the country that originally developed and produced the equipment, not the countries currently using it.

How to Play

1. View the Equipment

An image of military equipment will appear on your screen. Study it carefully - the visual design can often provide clues about its origin.

2. Make Your Guess

Click anywhere on the world map to drop a pin where you think the equipment was manufactured. You can also click on a specific country for more precision.

3. Confirm Your Selection

Once you've placed your pin, click "CONFIRM DROP" to submit your guess.

4. Bonus Round - Identify the Equipment

After guessing the location, you'll be challenged to identify the specific equipment from multiple choices. Correct identification earns bonus points!

Scoring

• Location Accuracy: Up to 5,000 points based on how close your pin is to the actual manufacturing location
• Equipment Identification: Additional 5,000 points for correctly naming the equipment
• Total Possible: 10,000 points per round

The closer you click to the correct location, the more points you earn!

Game Modes

• Start Game: Play 5 random rounds at your own pace
• Daily Challenge: A 60-second speedrun — identify as many targets as possible before time runs out. The same target set is shared by all players each day
• Practice Hub: Browse and study all available equipment to improve your knowledge

Daily Challenge — Speedrun Rules

⏱ 60-Second Clock

You have 60 seconds to correctly identify the origin of as many targets as possible. The game auto-advances after every guess — no result screen, no delays.

❌ Time Penalty

A wrong country costs you 3 seconds off the clock. Accuracy matters as much as speed.

🔥 Combo Multiplier

Chain 4 or more correct answers in a row to activate a ×1.5 combo multiplier on every subsequent correct guess — until you break the streak.

Tips

• Many countries produce distinctive equipment with unique design philosophies
• Pay attention to details like shape, size, and visible markings
• Western equipment often differs in design from Eastern equipment
• Some countries are known for specific types of military technology
• In the Daily Challenge, prioritise correct guesses over speed — a 3-second penalty hurts more than a slow correct answer

2. Intellectual Property

2.1 Game Ownership

The game, including but not limited to its original code, design, graphics, user interface, and game logic, is the property of the developers of Defence Guesser. All rights reserved.

2.2 Military Equipment Images

The game utilizes images of military equipment which are believed to be in the public domain or used under Creative Commons licenses. Attribution for these images is provided within the application where available. If you believe any content infringes on your copyright, please contact us at defenceguesser@gmail.com for prompt removal.

2.3 Third-Party Services

This application uses the following third-party services:

• Leaflet - Interactive map library
• CartoDB - Map tile provider
• Google Fonts - Typography (Outfit font family)
• Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) - Cloud database used to host the global Daily Challenge leaderboard. See section 3.4 for details on what data is stored.

These services are used in accordance with their respective licenses and terms of service.

2.4 User License

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use Defence Guesser for personal, non-commercial entertainment purposes only. You may not:

• Modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the game
• Create derivative works based on the game
• Distribute, sell, or otherwise commercialize any part of the game
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the game
• Exploit bugs or glitches for unfair advantage

3. Privacy Policy & Data Collection

3.1 Data Collection Overview

Defence Guesser is primarily a client-side application that operates in your web browser. The only data we transmit off your device is your self-chosen callsign and Daily Challenge score, and only when you choose to submit them to the global leaderboard (see section 3.4). We do not collect your name, email address, IP address, location, device identifiers, or any other personally identifiable information (PII).

3.2 Local Storage Usage

The game uses your browser's Local Storage to enhance your experience by saving:

• Game progress and high scores
• Daily Challenge history and completion status
• User preferences and settings
• Your chosen callsign for the Daily Challenge leaderboard

This data remains exclusively on your device unless you explicitly submit a score to the global leaderboard (see section 3.4).

3.3 Legal Basis for Local Storage

By using Defence Guesser, you consent to the storage of this data on your device for the purposes described above. This data is essential for providing core game functionality such as saving progress and maintaining leaderboard scores.

3.4 Cloud Leaderboard Data (Firebase)

To power the global Daily Challenge leaderboard, Defence Guesser uses Google Cloud Firestore (a Firebase service). Submitting a score is optional — you may play the Daily Challenge without ever posting a score, in which case nothing leaves your device.

When you click POST SCORE on the Daily Challenge results screen, the following data is transmitted to and stored by Firebase:

• Your chosen callsign (free-text, up to 16 characters — letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores only)
• Your score for that day's challenge
• A random installation ID generated locally by your browser and stored in Local Storage. This is a random UUID — not a hardware identifier, not linked to your name, email or Google account — used only to distinguish leaderboard entries when two players choose the same callsign, and to allow you to update your own score without overwriting someone else's. Clearing site data resets it.
• Date / week / month identifiers used for ranking
• A server-side timestamp generated by Firebase at submission

No other personal information is sent. We do not transmit your name, email, IP address, hardware identifiers, location or any tracking signals. The callsign is freely chosen by you and need not identify you personally — you may use any pseudonym.

Firebase is operated by Google LLC. As Firebase's infrastructure provider, Google may log connection metadata (such as IP addresses) at the network level when your browser communicates with Firestore, in accordance with the Firebase Privacy and Security Policy and the Google Privacy Policy.

3.5 No Tracking Cookies or Analytics

We do not use tracking cookies, analytics services, or advertising trackers. Although Firebase is capable of providing analytics, Defence Guesser does not enable Firebase Analytics — only Cloud Firestore (the leaderboard database) is used.

3.6 Your Data Rights (GDPR Compliance)

Under GDPR and similar privacy regulations, you have the following rights:

Local data on your device:

• Right to Access: You can view your locally stored data through your browser's developer tools
• Right to Erasure: You can delete all locally stored game data at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this website, or by using your browser's "Clear browsing data" function
• Right to Withdraw Consent: You can stop using the game at any time, and clear all stored data through your browser settings

Cloud leaderboard data (Firebase):

• Right to Access / Erasure: To request a copy of, or the deletion of, any leaderboard entries you have submitted, email defenceguesser@gmail.com with the callsign(s) and approximate date(s) of submission. We will action verified requests within 30 days.
• Right to Withdraw Consent: You can simply stop submitting scores. Past submissions can be removed on request as above.

To completely remove all local game data:

1. Open your browser settings
2. Navigate to Privacy/Storage settings
3. Clear site data for Defence Guesser
4. Alternatively, clear all browser local storage

3.7 Data Security

Locally stored data depends on your device's security; we recommend keeping it protected with appropriate passwords and security software. Leaderboard data submitted to Firebase is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on Google's infrastructure, which is governed by Google's security practices.

3.8 Third-Party Data Processing

The third-party services listed in section 2.3 (Leaflet, CartoDB, Google Fonts, Google Firebase) may process data according to their own privacy policies when you use Defence Guesser. We recommend reviewing their respective privacy policies, particularly Google's where applicable.

4. User Conduct

You agree to use Defence Guesser in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Prohibited activities include:

• Attempting to gain unauthorized access to any part of the application
• Interfering with the proper functioning of the game
• Using the game for any unlawful purpose
• Submitting offensive or inappropriate content as your callsign

5. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

5.1 "As Is" Provision

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. The Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or course of performance.

5.2 No Guarantee of Accuracy

While we strive for accuracy in the military equipment information presented, we make no guarantees about the completeness, reliability, or accuracy of this information.

5.3 Limitation of Liability

In no event shall the developers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:

• Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service
• Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service
• Any content obtained from the Service
• Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content

6. Age Restrictions

Defence Guesser is intended for users of all ages. However, if you are under 13 years of age, please ensure you have parental consent before using this application.

7. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms and Privacy Policy at any time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Your continued use of Defence Guesser after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

8. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of your jurisdiction of residence, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
